Having been in the studio business since 1976, we started baking tapes at Coast Recorders in 1994. Since that time, we have baked all types and formats of tape for dozens and dozens of clients. As a result of the ravages of time on some tape formulations, baking is the only way to ensure that your old tapes will play well enough for mixing, mastering and / or transfering. Many older tapes simply will not play,as the binder in the old tapes gums up every moving part of the transport that it touches....

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!...only specifically built convection ovens can be succesfully used to bake tape...DO NOT put tapes in your kitchen oven. Properly baked tapes are usually good to play for approximately 30 days.(can be rebaked if needed) .....We have never had a single complaint about baked tapes, but we can offer no guarentees as to the effect of baking on your tapes.
